Dear Health Professional,
Thank you for taking time to share with Texas HOT Jobs,as well as with all our future health career seekers, information about how you decided to become a health care professional. The purpose for the new “Professional Role Models” section of the Texas HOT Jobs website is to provide a resource for young career seekers to learn from current health care professionals:

        • why did you choose your career?
        • what challenges did you face to reach your career goals?
        • what do you like about your work?

We appreciate your support. The information and photo that you provide will be used on the Texas HOT Jobs website to encourage young career seekers in achieving their education and career goals. The survey will take about 30 minutes to complete. You can view sample health professional profiles for a dietitian, pharmacy technician, and athletic trainer to see how Texas HOT Jobs will use the information that you provide.

Many young career seekers, particularly those in underserved rural and inner city urban communities, do not have access to local health care professionals that they can look to as role models for exploring all the opportunities that are available with health career choices. The Texas HOT Jobs website (www.texashotjobs.org) including the new Professional Role Models section, is currently undergoing a major expansion to provide better resources for young career seekers to set—and reach—goals to become health care professionals. The Texas HOT Jobs website is hosted by the Texas Area Health Education Centers (East Texas AHEC, South Texas AHEC and West Texas AHEC). You can visit the current website at www.texashotjobs.org. If you have questions about Texas HOT Jobs or the website expansion project, please contact Chris Felton at the West Texas AHEC Program Office (806.743.1338).

Once you submit this survey, you will be able to upload a photo of yourself. The photo is very helpful for young career seekers to identify with the person they are reading about, and to get a feel for the health care professional setting.

The photo file needs to be in .JPG, .BMP or TIF format and should be less than 4 megabytes.
