I wanted to help people, so it was a good fit.

Engineering, Teaching and the Law

What experiences in your life developed your interest in your career?
Having to help with family members who were chronically ill.

What early preparations did you take (in high school and college) to reach your career goal?
I volunteered at a Family Medicine Clinic and in ERs (Emergency Rooms).

What things did you find to be difficult as you prepared for your career?
First was finding family support when I decided to pursue a career in medicine. Also, I found it difficult to sort through the application process.

Present Career as a Physician

Describe an average work day for you.
On a day when I am on call, I go to the hospital to evaluate patients in the ER. I also have responsibilities in the clinic and I see about 20+ patients a day.

Helping Families.

What advice would you give to those who are interested in your career?
Study hard, learn to read well, and try to make the best grades possible.

If you could start over, would you still make the same decision to pursue education?
Yes, but I would have chosen a different Pre-Med major.

Do you plan to pursue opportunities for advancement in your career field?
Yes, I always have the feeling that I can do more. I would like to pursue an MPH (Master's in Public Health) one day.
