Length of Training
The majority of medical illustrators have at least a Bachelor’s degree that combines art and pre-medical courses. A Master’s degree in medical illustration is recommended; however, this degree is only available from a very limited number of accredited schools in the United States.

Licensure/Certification

Te Board of Certifcation of Medical Illustrators offers a voluntary Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) examination. Once taken and passed, it is necessary to take continuing edu-cation courses to maintain that certification.
