Length of Training
Current training programs are either 4-year Bachelors, post-baccalaureate certifcates, or master's level programs. However, all programs will be changing to the master's level degree by 2012. Upon completion of training, graduates must complete a year of residency for each discipline to be eligible for licensure and certification.

Licensure/Certification
Many states required that practitioners are licensed. National certifcation is obtained through The American Board for Certifcation in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC). Both require board examinations and a period of residency after education.
