Length of Training/Requirements
Physical therapy assistants are not required to get certified, but doing so does make it easier to be hired. The typical physical therapy assistant educational program takes two years to complete and leads to an Associate's degree.

Physical therapy aides are usually trained on the job. It is best to have at least a high school diploma.

Licensure/Certification
After completion of the two-year Associate's degree plan, applicants must pass the licensing exam administered by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners in order to practice as physical therapy assistants in the workplace.
