Length of Training
Pharmacy technology programs teach the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare, distribute, label and package drugs, and to keep accurate records. Formalized education programs range from eight-month certificate to a two-year associate’s degree, which is usually obtained through a community college. Some pharmacy technicians learn their skills on-the-job, but they must pass the certification exam within one year of beginning work.
Licensure/Certification
Pharmacy Technicians are required to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) test in Texas.
