Medical librarians offer assistance to physicians, allied health professionals, patients, consumers, and corporations.  They are able to provide information about new medical treatments, clinical trails and standard trail procedures, as well as test information. Medical librarians are crucial in helping patients find the information they are looking in regards to medication concerns, procedures, or understanding the long term affects.  They also provide information of the latest trends within the fields to the health care industries.  Medical librarians can serves as web mangers, directors of a nursing school library, medical informatics experts, catalogers, instructors, and reference librarians.   

Work Environment

Medical librarians work in a variety of employment settings, including health care, academic medical centers, clinics, colleges, universities, professional schools, consumer health libraries, research centers and foundations, different industries (pharmaceutical, medical, or even biotechnology).  They also may work within the federal, state, and local government.
